In 2012 FLAIR AIR CONDITIONING will be celebrating 45 years in business. In today’s economy this is indeed a very special occasion.

The company actually started in the early 60’s, however we became a Florida Corporation in 1967 and this is the year we use as our official beginning.

The company was started by Charles Williams. John McKeehan and Tom McGuire Sr became owners in the mid 60’s and John sold out in the late 70’s. Tom Sr was active up until his retirement in 1985, when he sold his interest. The current owners are Ronald Martin, Terrence Soppet and Tom McGuire Jr.

Terrence and Ron were working in the company since the mid 60’s and Tom Jr started with the company in 1974. Throughout the 45 years of being in business we have seen numerous changes and new regulations in our industry. We have also seen many other A/C companies come and go.

Our goal has always been to provide prompt professional and courteous service at an affordable price and to firmly stand behind our workmanship. Flair firmly believes the customer is our most important asset and without our customers there would be no Flair.

DOE FINALIZES NEW RESIDENTIAL REQUIRED STANDARDS

On October 25, 2011 the Department of Energy adopted new residential appliance standards for central air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps. Under the new rule the country will be divided into three regions and the minimum efficiency standards for these appliances will vary according to region.

Florida is in the Southeast Region. Although many organizations including ACCA expressed their displeasure and disappointment with the new standards, DOE decided to move ahead anyway.

Effective January 2015 the minimum efficiency standard for central air conditioners and heat pumps in the Southeast Region will be 14.0 SEER. Today’s minimum is currently 13.0 SEER. An enforcement plan for the new standards has not been clarified yet, but you can be assured it will become part of the Florida Building Code and enforced when permits are pulled for new construction or replacement as is currently done now.
